Ferrell Hospital Provides Update on Reopening Efforts Post-Flood

6/3/2024

Ferrell Hospital is diligently working toward reopening after damage from the May 8 storms, with a strong focus on ensuring every step taken is thorough and correct. While a definite reopening date is not yet established, the hospital is committed to keeping the community informed about the ongoing efforts and progress.

Hospital CEO Tony Keene expressed his gratitude and optimism in the process.

“We are working tirelessly to restore our facilities and ensure they meet the highest standards of safety and care,” he said. “The dedication of our staff and the support from our partners have been instrumental in this process. Our priority remains the well-being of our patients and the community we serve."

Key points of the current efforts include:
  • Daily Presence of Contractor, Restoration, and Insurance Teams: These teams are onsite daily, collaborating closely to assess and address the damages.
  • Leadership and Team Coordination: Leadership, contractors, and restoration teams hold daily meetings to discuss the phases of cleaning, restoration, and construction. This ensures a coordinated and efficient approach to reopening.
  • Collaborative Efforts with Healthcare Networks: Ferrell Hospital is working closely with the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN), Illinois Health and Hospital Association (IHA), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Deaconess Health System to ensure comprehensive support and guidance throughout the restoration process.
  • Active Workforce and Continuing Services: We have a larger number of employees engaged in day-today activities within and around the hospital. Despite the flood, offsite clinics, Senior Transitions and Outpatient Therapy services are fully operational and continue to serve the community.

Ferrell Hospital remains committed to providing transparent updates and is dedicated to reopening with the same level of excellence and care that the community expects. The hospital appreciates the patience and support of the community during this challenging time.
