Ferrell Hospital announces reopening of outpatient lab draws

5/24/2024

Ferrell Hospital is pleased to announce the reopening of its outpatient lab draw services beginning Tuesday, May 28, following significant efforts to restore services after the devastating flooding damage from the May 8 storms. Despite ongoing restoration work, the hospital is committed to ensuring patients have access to essential lab services.

Beginning Tuesday, patients can get outpatient lab draws at Ferrell Hospital from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Patients can schedule lab appointments directly by calling 618-297-9602. Walk-in patients for the lab are welcome but will be scheduled around those who have pre-registered. Please remember to bring your paper orders when you visit.

In addition, outpatient cardiology services (EKG and Holter monitors) and some oncology services (initial evaluations, injections, and removal of chemo balls) are also now available at the hospital. As a reminder, the hospital remains closed to emergency services. All outpatient services, clinics and urgent cares will also be closed Monday for Memorial Day.

Updated Patient Instructions for Outpatient Lab:
Patients are instructed to enter the parking lot via the Fisk Street entrance and proceed to the wheelchair parking spots at the front. Numbered spots, similar to those used during COVID-19, will be in place. Upon arrival, patients should call the registration number listed on the sign at their spot and wait to be escorted to the lab draw site in the Wellness on Wheels (WOW) van.

The hospital continues to actively work to address the aftermath of the flooding and restore full operations as soon as possible. A reopening date is not known at this time.

As a reminder, for General Lab, Radiology, Procedures or Upcoming Appointments questions, patients should call Ferrell Hospital at 618-273-3361. For Appointment Rescheduling or Clinic Inquiries call Ferrell Hospital Family Practice at 618-297-9665. Providers are seeing patients at different offsite clinics and remain reachable through this line.

Ferrell Hospital appreciates the community's patience and understanding during this challenging time. The hospital is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and service despite the temporary disruptions.
