- Previous heart attack
- High Blood Pressure
- Diabetes
- Valve problems
- Family history
- Certain thyroid conditions
- Heavy alcohol or drug use
- African American
- Congenital heart defects
- Broken heart syndrome also known as takotsubo cardiomyopathy
